Back Pain

A recent survey conducted by the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) discovered that: “At any one time in the UK, 33% of the population are suffering with back pain and up to 80% of the adult population will suffer significant back pain at some time in their life”.

Genetic predisposition, Previous trauma, Sporting injuries, Arthritic conditions, Poor posture, Lack of exercise and the general stress of 21st century life in the UK are just some of the factors that can be contributory to this significant problem that our society faces.

When a joint is not functioning properly pain will often be the first indication that you have a problem. There may also be inflammation, muscle spasm and spinal nerve irritation. Chiropractic treatment aims to restore the correct joint function so that, in turn, stiffness is decreased, increased movement is restored and the secondary problems (nerve function, irritation and muscle spasms) can be removed. Advise about lifestyle, posture, work and exercise or rehabilitation programmes will be used to aid in managing the problem as well as assisting in preventing recurrences.

Because there are many causes of back pain we need to obtain a proper understanding of what is causing it. Because of this, at the Milton Keynes Chiropractic Clinic, we perform a thorough history taking and full examination (which involves chiropractic, orthopaedic, neurological and postural assessments and may even involve us taking X-rays of you) . Your first appointment will take approximately 1 hour. Please see the What Happens On My First Consultation? page of our website for full information of this consultation, or call us to discuss an appointment.
